Salvation
The Way of Salvation Revealed in the Bible
The sinner must obey Christ
"And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him," (Hebrews 5:9)
Obedience includes ALL of the following:
HEAR the Gospel. ( Romans 10:13-17 )
BELIEVE the Gospel. ( John 3:16; Hebrews 11:6; John 8:24 )
REPENT of all sins. ( Luke 13:3; Acts 2:38 )
CONFESS Jesus as the Son of God and Savior. ( Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 8:35-39 )
Be BAPTIZED to wash away sins. ( Acts 22:16; Mark 16:16; 1 Peter 3:21; Col 2:12 )
Be FAITHFUL unto death. ( 1 Corinthians 15:58; Revelation 2:10 )
Hear the Gospel
Rom 10:13-17 For everyone, "whoever shall call on the name of the Lord will be saved." How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard ? And how shall they hear without preaching? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things!" But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our report?" Then faith is of hearing , and hearing by the Word of God.
Believe the Gospel
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.."
John 8: 24 Jesus said I told you that you would die in your sins, if you do not believe that I am the one I claim to be, you will indeed die in you sins.
Repent of Your Sins
Luke 13:3 Jesus said, "but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish."
Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
What is repentance, and how is it produced in us?
1 Peter 3:11 He Must turn away from evil and do Good; he must seek peace and pursue it.
2 Corinthians 7:10 "For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death."
Confess Jesus As the Son of God and Savior
Matthew 10:32-33 Jesus said, "Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever shall deny Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in Heaven. "
Romans 10:9-10 "that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
Acts 8:35-39 Then Philip opened his mouth and began at the same Scripture and preached the gospel of Jesus to him. And as they passed along the way, they came on some water. And the eunuch said, See, here is water, what hinders me from being baptized? Philip said, If you believe with all your heart, it is lawful. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. And he commanded the chariot to stand still. And they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch. And he baptized him. And when they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more. And he went on his way rejoicing.
Be Baptized
Immersed in Water
Mark 16:16 "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; but whoever does not believe will be condemned."
1 Peter 3:21 which figure now also saves us, baptism; not a putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ;
Colossians 2:12 "having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead."
Significance of Baptism
Romans 6:4-6 "Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin."
Galatians 3:27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.
Be Faithful Unto Death
Persevering Always
1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Revelation 2:10 Do not at all fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the Devil will cast some of you into prison, so that you may be tried. And you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful to death, and I will give you the crown of life."
